She Married Him Thinking He was Salafee then found out He was an Innovator : Shaykh Al-Albaanee Question: A woman married a young man on the basis that he was upon the noble legislation and that he was Salafee; then she discovered that he was an innovator. The Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: كل بدعة ضلالة وكل ضلالة في النار “Every innovation is misguidance and every misguidance is in the Fire.” So is she to stay with him in spite of his deviation or leave him? What is your advice? Answer: If the matter were in her hand then she could simply leave him (i.e., pronounce divorce upon him). However, the Messenger (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said: إنما الطلاق بيد من أخذ بالساق “The divorce in only in the hand of the one who takes hold of the leg. (i.e., the man)” It is upon her to get a Khul’ (annulment) from him if she wants to be free of him and his Bid’ah.
