She came on a barque, propelled by oars with the four little ones - TopicsExpress

She came on a barque, propelled by oars with the four little ones in her lap, to sprinkle the magic potion of festivity and joy in our life. She stayed for a shorter span this year, but could still make a difference in our life. The voyage begins at Kumartuly and ends with river Ganges embracing her to take her back. In one word, Pujo is always amazing. But for me, what was even more astounding, was my association with Kumartuly Park Sarbojanin Durgotsav Committee. I always had a family association with this pujo and have seen my elders work day and night, but for the first time I myself got properly involved into this and found the enjoyment in it. I can proudly say that our pujo had the HIGHEST footfall in the city. So much so that on Navami night Kolkata Police (due to its lack of forces) had to stop the overwhelming and overflowing crowd from entering our puja premises on grounds of “technical faults”. To prove their ground the very next day they had to come and take out a few wooden planks from the pandal architecture to present it as “CRITICALLY UNSAFE” for general public. But public was patient. They came back day after day to see if the so called “UNSAFETY” could have been removed. But no, political interventions had already made the pandal so “UNSAFE” that it could have never been made SAFE at all. Those were some of the unfortunate truths. But our biggest achievement was on the day of ‘bhashan’ when the pandal finally opened its gates only for the protima to be brought out from the starry night sky to the trolley. A small comment from a complete stranger made our day. “Dada, aaj teen din jabot Nabadwip theke eshechi, aaj giye Maayer Dorshon Pelam, apekhata sharthak chilo” (I have been waiting for three days just to get a glimpse of the goddess, and my patience didn’t go in vain). A big thanks to all our spectators, our committee members, our sponsors and our well-wishers. “Asche Bochor Abar Hobe!!!” Sayantan Tulika Ranjay Moumita Arijeet
