She said she loved my smile / it reminded her of the early morning sun ready to burst out from behind those clouds / she was constantly in awe whenever she looked into my brown eyes / I was high in the skies surrounded by a dozen cupids / she said she loved the way that I spoke to her in metaphors / she said she never met a man with such compassion and a willingness to give / my heart had become open and ready to receive all of what she had to offer until she said / I adore you but, your DARK skin keeps me from loving you / I dont want to be judged when Im with you by my light to fair skin friends / I want to have kids that are paper bag brown or so damn light that they would pass for white / Now as Im quietly listening and taking all of this in / my sun has just been eclipsed and there is no independence in this day / the woman I thought who loved me just deceived me in every way / I started to think maybe if I can just bleach my skin or see a specialist that can prescribe me the right medicine / that she would love and want to be with me.. but now thats history / now my mental states is not great so my life I want to take / I know my worth is the same as any other color / but when your destroyed from birth / youll never know your worth....
