She was born on April 1, 1916—no fooling! She started her education in a one-room schoolhouse in northeast Indiana. She earned a college degree in a single year in the middle of the Great Depression. She wouldnt let the boys drive her car, either, no matter how much they begged. She was beautiful, brave, and a little mischievous. She was thankful for family, friends, and all of Gods blessings. She always wanted her grandson to thank his friends for singing that lovely song for her over the phone, when it stormed so terribly on the night she went to watch him march and play his horn. We love her. We learned a lot from her. We will miss her, but we are so grateful for Almeda May Yorke.
