Sheila the Walkabout Wagon currently in Tennants Creek, about - TopicsExpress

Sheila the Walkabout Wagon currently in Tennants Creek, about 500km north of Alice Springs deep in the Australian Outback. Since we last left you we have attempted to post a post which obviously didnt work so heres hoping for this one... As you can tell we found the sun and the mighty Wagon is performing brilliantly now its operating in the conditions it was built for (well apart from losing reverse gear, which we hope will return at some point, but who needs up go backwards anyway??!) Our search for the sun has covered some 2,500km so far and brought us to our current location. So, what have we seen? Mainly, due to the distance weve travelled, the road but we did stop at Airlie Beach home of the Whitsunday Islands and the inner side of the Great Barrier Reef. Despite the freezing water temperature we donned our wetsuits and took a day trip snorkeling - we did at one point genuinely get to swim with the fishes as a shoal of blue fish with yellow tails swam round us, into us and over us...very cool! We stopped at some beautiful islands, photos below, before heading back to shore and on with the mighty road. We hung a left at Townsville cutting short of Cairns (the Whitsundays being close enough to the Great Barrier Reef for us) and headed inland for Hughenden, the start of Australias Dinosaur Trail, and the beginning of our outback adventure. We stopped at a museum, and yes they really have found some big dinosaurs there, before carrying on to Mount Isa and then to here Tennants Creek - each days drive encompassing around 600km. So from outback of the Wagon in the outback were sending you all lots of love xxx
