Shema visits Jonathan, denies anointing successor Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema yesterday visited President Goodluck Jonathan at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja and denied endorsing anyone as his successor. The governor had been alleged to have anointed one of his commissioners, Musa Nashuni, as the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for the 2015 general election. Six aspirants yesterday registered their grievances to the national leadership of the party over alleged anointing of Nashuni. In a 6-page letter of protest dated November 4, 2014 and addressed to the PDP national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, the six aspirants said that the party would lose to the opposition if it fields an unpopular candidate in the state. But while addressing State House journalists after meeting with Jonathan, Shema dismissed the petition by six governorship aspirants that he had tipped Nashuni as his successor. The governor maintained that the PDP’s gubernatorial candidate could only emerge after the conduct of the primary election. He added that he could only support any candidate produced by the primary election. Shema expressed confidence that just like in previous elections, the PDP would retain the state in 2015.
