Sheriff Strain is warning local residents of another telephone scam occurring in our parish. One of our elderly residents recently reported to the Sheriff’s office that she received a call from a woman who identified herself as an IRS employee. The alleged representative indicated that the local woman owed back taxes and that the Sheriff Office would be at her house shortly to serve her with some papers. Sheriff Strain reminds residents that our agency does not ever collect federal income taxes for the IRS. Anyone receiving such a call is urged to note the number calling and to report the call to the Sheriff’s office (911) immediately.
