Sherry Semiche Page: The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk is important to us for many reasons. -Half of all men and one third of all women will develop cancer in their lifetimes. -Cancer knows no boundaries or limitations. -There needs to be increased access to a broader range of treatments that are less harsh and physically devastating. Our family is no exception. We recently lost our Heidi at the young age of 34 to her second battle with cancer. Heidi was a granddaughter, a daughter, a sister, a niece, an aunt and a cousin. Heidi witnessed in her lifetime the battles that her grandparents, mother and aunts waged with cancer. Her final wish was that her family devote themselves to raising funds for cancer research so that no family would have to encounter cancer. Heidi loved the Jimmy Fund, their close affiliation with the Boston Red Sox and their determination to Conquer Cancer via the research conducted at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Heidis Mother, Sherry, and Sister, Gretchen will be traveling to Boston from Rockford, IL to participate in the Walk-A-Thon on an annual basis to continue Heidis legacy. We will be carrying a large Team Heidi Banner and two posters on the walk; one with photographs honoring those who are battling or have survived cancer and the second is a memorial board. If you make a donation be sure to send us a photograph of your loved one(s) who you want to be recognized. Your donation, no matter how large or small, will benefit all of our futures. Thank you for your consideration! Sherry Semiche ([email protected]) Gretchen Beaman (gretchen.beaman@gmail) Online donations may be made on the Team Heidi page: jimmyfundwalk.org/2014/smokykwartz
