Shhh, its a surprise! As Rons friends know, he has had a lifelong interest in cars. Rons Family Hospice nurse, Michelle, and her husband, Alan, came up with the idea of having a car cruise, in which cars filled with Rons friends would drive past his house. After much planning and secret-keeping, it was all systems go. Imagine Rons surprise when Michelle showed up, unannounced, Saturday evening and she and Rhonda, Rons daughter, told him what was in store! Talk about a grin from ear-to-ear! Members of the Southern Illinois Street Rod Association and Lakers Car Club slowly drove past Rons home, in honor of the man they know and love. Once in front of Rons chair on the driveway, the drivers stopped their cars, revved the engines and gave him a thumbs up. Car club members were not the only ones to participate. Two Lebanon Volunteer Fire Department trucks led the way. Firemen in both trucks saluted Ron with their helmets, in tribute to the man who volunteered with them for fourteen years. What a wonderful evening and memory for Ron, Jan, Rhonda and their loved ones and friends.
