Shidler Fire Department Hosting 2nd Annual Noodling Tournament The Shidler Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring another Noodling tournament on June 22. The Noodling Tournament features a first place prize of $1,000 and a largest catfish prize of $250. With these prizes, the Shidler Volunteer Fire Department, hopes for a huge turnout. Once again, the proceeds go to a worthy cause. “Like last year, the money from the event will go towards the purchase of a new rescue truck which carries the Jaws of Life and equipment needed for auto accidents,” said Todd Roe, Shidler Fire Department fire chief. Onlookers are sure to have fun watching the 7 p.m. weigh-in at Pioneer Cove Marina, Kaw Lake, as participants await the results. “The event weigh-in promises to be full of excitement for noodlers as well as onlookers,” he said. Rules include: Noodlers must obey all Oklahoma Wildlife regulations; 3 Flathead catfish per team limit; no addition or trade-out of fish after initial weigh-in; noodlers must fish in Oklahoma; fish must be caught within 24 hours; all fish must be alive at weight-in, and dead fish will not be accepted. To obtain a registration form, call 918.691.4920 or find one in the Shidler Review on newsstands in Shidler, Kaw City, Pawhuska and Fairfax.
