You know, it’s a sad thing to think that most of the time, our elderly loved ones tend to be neglected due to many reasons. One of those is, when their children start to build their own families and live somewhere far from them. They are unlikely to get visited and not given the right attention and care they need, not to mention the fact that they need it the most because of their age, deteriorating health and mobility. The video may be heartbreaking, but it serves as an eye-opener or a wake up call for all. There is a saying that goes, “A good reminder is a medicine to those who forget.” We may not intend to forget about them but we sometimes do unconsciously. I believe it’s high time to express our love and care for them now that they are at the prime of their lives. Maybe love and care are not enough without the key important ingredient called companionship. It’s a whole lot better to stay beside them in their remaining years. That’s what they want, to have someone beside them, to let them feel that they’re important and loved and not send someone in our place to do our own obligations to them.
