Shin-Yeong 2nd anniversary celebration kicks off on May 12th, big weekend at the cinema following. Heres a schedule of events so far: Information from Emily Chu, of Shin-Yeong Cinematheque: Sunday, May 18th marks the 2nd anniversary of Shin-Yeong: celebrations kick off on May 12, at 6:30 p.m., with a Cine Radio screening of Oliver Stones The Doors. This screening is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a program in which the audience will be invited to listen to music by The Doors, and to participate in a post-movie discussion of that music hosted by MBC radio producer 김성춘. The weekend of May 16-May 18 will include further events, as follows: May 16: Cine Talk: Director 이수진 and actor 천우희 from the movie 한공주 (currently in rotation on cinema schedule) will be in Gangneung. I think this is a screening of that movie, with the director and actor in attendance, but will need to clarify... May 17: potluck party and celebration beginning at 10:30 pm: overnight screening of three movies, and if you bring some food to share, admission is free. Otherwise, screening fee is 10,000 won. May 18: Cine Concert--screening of Coen brothers Inside Llewyn Davis, followed by a concert by indie band 허클베리핀(Huckleberry Finn). Cost of screening and concert 7,000 won. Shin-Yeong Cinema is also preparing gifts for support memberships (which begins at 10,000 won per month, and may have further special program announcements. Looks like some fun events, and the folks at the cinema would welcome your participation in their 2nd anniversary celebrations. I will post more information as it becomes available.
