Shock therapy is a form or negative encouragement. Im disregarding - TopicsExpress

Shock therapy is a form or negative encouragement. Im disregarding morality for a moment to speak just in scientific which is of course their entire argument and the level I must speak on, so please bear with. Both positive and negative conditioning require the subject to be able to directly correlate specific actions with the reinforcement. The fact that reaching for a pocket, and removing a velco safety must occur before the negative stimulus can be enacted means the system is flawed within the scientific basis it is citing as justification. Without immediate reinforcement, other stimuli are able to occur before reinforcement occurs, resulting in confusion as to what caused the reinforcement. This is why reaching for the pocket, and velco cause the fear. These people are learning that velcro and pocket reaching cause the pain, not their own actions. This is extraordinarily simple psychological logic, and shows that the unconscious pattern recognition which this method is trying to play upon will never come into existance. We read medicine bottles to decide if an upset stomach side effect is worth ending the pain of a migraine. In true objectivity, we have to ask, is creating all these different fear inducing stimuli as side effects worth the effort of forcing people with different neurological wiring that we still dont fully understand into conformity? Speaking from morality and the tendency to ridicule those who have no clue what they are doing: Even professional animal trainers are aware that both positive and negative reinforcement methods result in quicker learning. However, this article makes no mention of any positive reinforcement, so youd be better off handing your loved ones over to a professional animal trainer than this institute.
