Shocking statement :-D :-D :-D Jamaat-e-Islami supports Geelani’s poll boycott call Asks people to stay away from poll exercise =>Influential politco-religious organization Jamaat-e-IslamiSaturday came in support of Syed Ali Geelani and categorically stated that it would not participate in the 2014 Assembly and Parliament elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Jamaat-e-IslamiChief Muhammad Abdullah Wani told CNS that it has asked its cadre to stay away from forthcoming elections. “We also appeal to the people of Kashmir to boycott the elections as they did in past. It is the policy of Jamat to stay away from polls since 1987 and this time also we will adhere to this policy,” Wani said. He said though Jamat will boycott the elections but it will not start a campaign in this regard as it has limited time to do so. “Propagation of religion is our basic priority but as Kashmiri, we support Kashmir Cause and wish that the issue should be resolved without any delay,” he said. “Jamat wants that UN resolutions should be implemented and in case India does not do so then it should include Kashmiri leadership into dialogue process. I do agree with Mirwaiz Umar Faroo in which he has said that Kashmir issue could be resolved either through UN resolutions or triangular dialogue,” he said adding that any dialogue between India and Pakistan will be futile unless Kashmir’s are involved in the exercise and their aspirations are honoured, he said.. Jamaat-e-IslamiChief Muhammad Abdullah Wani castigated Government for patronizing liquor trade in Kashmir. “We will soon convene a seminar in this regard and chalk out strategy to curb this menace in our Valley,” he said and appealed religious organizations to find ways and means and save Kashmiri society from getting socially and morally degraded.
