Shoppers in Stratford upon Avon are urged to vigilant to pick pockets in the run up to Christmas. Three purse thefts were reported in the afternoon of Thursday 4th December. On each occasion a woman bumped into or brushed against the victim, before the purse was stolen. Shoppers are reminded too keep bags secure and keep purses or wallets in an inside pocket and to keep hand and shoulder bags zipped. It’s also advisable to carry bags in front with flaps against your body and keep straps short with bags tucked under your arm. Advice is also being given to encourage people not to have money or expensive jewellery on show. Sergeant Rich Thomas said: “In the run up to Christmas, when Stratford Town Centre is busier we would urge people to stay alert to ensure they are not at risk of being targeted by pick pockets. Make sure you are aware of what is going on around you and your property is secure. Police are patrolling the town centre, and would urge anyone who spots anything suspicious to report it on 101” Full press release: onlinenews.warwickshire.police.uk/wpnews_pressrelease/shoppers-in-stratford-upon-avon-urged-to-be-vigilant-against-pickpockets-/17117
