Short-term lodgers pose many problems. In many cases, the home owners may not be aware that their tenants are renting out the property for the short term. As the tenant has done this in secret, many short-term lodgers do not register a tenancy agreement with the condominium, even if this is required under its by-laws. This can contribute to security issues because condos, unlike hotels, are not equipped for short-term stays.
