Shorty update Shorty is not a rescued dog, Shorty rescued herself. A street dog from the Southwest side. She would run the fence line with my sons (if you know the story about the son I never had and our little Wobbly family) dog across from Clark Park. After a couple of failed attempts to follow them up to their room on night she succeeded. Figuring it was too late to put her back on the street, she was given a box and a blanket to sleep for the night. In the morning when she was called out, there was no response, so he reached in to get her and she bit him. He looked in the box and there she was with two newborn puppies.Well, she had a home for awhile. My son started telling me about this dog. Just like you said you wanted. A small living doorbell that was bred to hunt rodents. He starts sending me pictures of this dog, nursing her pups. Last Saturday during our little Wobbly family reunion around the chopping boards it came up. This time with my best friend (the one I refer to as Mom in the Wobbly family) and my son. The pressure was on and a date was set for her to come over. Tuesday, mom came over with a cage and some dog food and the son came with Shorty and a leash. We went out and had dinner and the deal was set. A couple of days later we are getting use to each other, she is making herself at home and barks at everything :-( Results so far. I take walks around the neighborhood, meet more neighbors, forced to rest in the yard while she runs around and hunts. Like I said she was a street dog from the Southwest side, so there may still be a family missing a dog. They may see this or they may not meanwhile Shorty has a new home.
