Shot in the middle of the night with a flash, in front of the Pacific Electric Main Street station, in 1943. This was the beginning of the first successful strike in the history of the Pacific Electric Ry. Armbands say BRT=Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. The present MTA bus drivers union, United Transportation Union, is directly descended from that union. Transit workers in L.A. have only had union contracts since the strikes of 1942-43.
