Shots have been fired. I do think that if there is a blame to be placed, it is on the organizations that allow for these programs. If it is something people enjoy doing, why not make it such that both parties get the most out of it? On a related side note, this narcissism label is kind of cheap. By that definition any philanthropic work is narcissistic. Its a good thing if other humans feel happy about having helped someone else (even if it is an illusion). I think it would be a better use of time if this individual tried encouraging others to make a difference rather than point fingers at the ones who are taking a step.
