Should Companies have a zero tolerance policy against a legal - TopicsExpress

Should Companies have a zero tolerance policy against a legal substance being in an employees body? The point isnt whether a state licensed patient should get unemployment benefits or not. The real issue is why they were fired in the first place for having a legal substance in their body. Activist need to focus on getting marijuana reclassified from a Schedule I narcotic. A look at the DEA drug scheduling (justice.gov/dea/druginfo/ds.shtml) defies all logic and reasoning for concluding that marijauna is more dangerous than cocaine, methamphetamine, methadone, Demerol, oxycodone (OxyContin) which are all Schedule II. Neither of the employees in this story were intoxicated or using on company time. The Michigan Chamber of Commerce members would not be put in a no-win situation if marijuana was not a Schedule I narcotic but rather a Schedule II-IV. Then it would treated as it should be a prescription drug. What do think?
