Entry - Jenna Ecker, Ministry of Parks, Culture & Sport I wake up in the morning With a smile on my face Knowing I am going To a very great place Working through the morning hours While the dew is sparkling Midst the springing flowers While the days grow brighter Day after day, the same routines Work and more work is all it means From this moment onwards, until I go back to school I’ll be working, warm or cool. Work, for the night is coming Fill the bright hours with running Here’s a task for you to do alone A common place, a common throne I’ll scrub you ‘til you shine like new Wipe off the pee, scrub off the poo And when I’m done, I’ll flush away The evidence and then I’ll say, “Oh, how I love my job in this smelly hole But you’d think they’d get some in the bowl!” Only a few people have a job they love Maintenance isn’t for everyone, but this I really enjoy. Through the day I will toil Under the sun which will make me boil My hands are dirty My age is twenty I love to do my duty My body always feels thirsty Wake, work, home, eat, sleep Is a cycle that keeps me upbeat. To work I will make a dash, Lazy feelings equal trash! Work is fun While tasks are being done Co-workers become friends, it’s true And they help you and the days through Working is nice and fine It gives a very healthy sign The working pleasure is mine I want to work again and again
