Show of Jammu, Pakistan and Australian artists opens at Kala Kendra Lalit Gupta JAMMU, Jan 16: Under the initiative of four alumni of Institute of Music & Fine Arts, Jammu University, led by Lovesh Sharma, a group show of the works by young visual artists from Jammu, Pakistan and Australia opened at the Master Sansar Chand Art gallery, Kala Kendra, here today. Aptly titled Global Relations, the five-day exhibition which has on show paintings, drawings and graphics, provides a unique chance to view contemporary art practiced by young artists of the three countries, who despite the distance which separates their countries have come together to share their artistic vision on one platform. The work, centered about myriad human themes, situations and having a kind of universal appeal, are created through various techniques like etching, aquatint, collagraph, direct exposure on paper using photo-sensitive materials, photo gravure, woodcut along with special effects with mix of embossing, spray etc., while the paintings are mostly in acrylic. The exhibition while providing an opportunity to art aficionados of winter capital to view contemporary visual expressions of young artists is also significant event for art students as it allows them to witness the possibilities of creative use of latest techniques and media. The exhibited artists include Iram Wani from Pakistan, Jeremy Plint, Jessica Grace, Paul Eves-from Australia, Lovesh Sharma, Parveen Kumar, Suneel Dutt and Shushil Bharti-from Jammu. The exhibition was inaugurated by Saujanya Sharma, Director Information, in presence of senior sculptor Padamshree Rajendra Tiku. Other artists present on the occasion included Chander Prakash, Somu Agarwal, Jagpal Singh, Bhushan Kesar, Vikas Khajuria, R P Singh, Naushad Gayoor and Dr Raj Kumar. The exhibition will remain open till January 20 from 11 am to 5 pm.
