Showers on radar this morning are mainly impacting windward and mauka areas due to an upper level trough just off to the west. The leeward areas are missing most of the rain because the fetch is oriented nearly parallel to the island chain. Have updated our forecast increasing showers for this afternoon and evening for the leeward/interior Big Island and Haleakala given the moisture in place, higher than normal inversions (cloud heights) and daytime heating.
