Shrewsbury Woman Arrested after Crashing into Two Parked Vehicles Worcester, MA (November 10, 2014) - On Friday November 7, 2014 at approximately 7:30 PM, Worcester police responded to the area 95 June Street for a report of a MV accident with a trapped driver. Upon the officer’s arrival he observed a female trapped in an overturned Toyota Rav 4. The officer observed two other parked vehicles that were damaged after being struck by the Toyota. Due to the nature of the accident, the Crash Reconstruction Unit was called to the scene to investigate. Arriving investigators were informed by the initial responding officer that he believed that the operator may be under the influence of narcotics. The operator, identified as Shannon Winn, 21-years-old of 36 Tobin Hill Drive, Shrewsbury, was transported to U-Mass Memorial Medical Center (university campus) for treatment. Investigators from the Crash Reconstruction Unit went to the hospital to speak with Ms. Winn. One of the investigating officers, trained in drug influence recognition, interviewed Ms. Winn. Based on his interview, in addition to other evidence at the accident scene, Ms. Winn was placed under arrest and charged with Operating a MV while Under the Influence of Narcotics, Negligent Operation of a MV and Failure to stay within Marked Lanes. The preliminary investigation indicates that Miss Winn was operating her Toyota east on June Street when she crossed the center line and crashed into two parked vehicles that were facing west on June Street. The force of the impact sent the Toyota up onto its side, trapping Ms. Winn inside the vehicle. Members of the Worcester fire department responded to the scene and freed Ms. Winn. All three vehicles were towed from the scene. This investigation is ongoing.
