#Shubuhaat_About_Demonstrations - POINT 6 ============================== 6- Demonstrations turn people away from Islam It is important to distinguish between a demonstration aimed at inviting people to Islam and a demonstration aimed at showing support for Muslims under military occupation in a context of war. The latter is bound to be opposed for occupying forces and their families and neighbours etc, it is strange that someone might expect anything different. When showing defiance against a stubborn enemy that is at war with Islam and Muslims, it is not the time or context to invite them to Islam. Rather such a demonstration would be an appropriate time to condemn, criticize and demoralize the enemy and this is a priority in times of war than inviting them to Islam. However it is also important to note that the fact that people turn away from Islam and reject the truth is not an indication of an incorrect methodology, style or means or a sinful action. In fact it is well known that the guidance is only from Allah and we cannot guide whoever we like. Allah (swt) says Yet - however strongly you may desire it -most people will not believe [in this revelation], [EMQ 12:103] In fact the Dawah of the messenger Muhammad (saw) was the best way, hikmah and most beneficial methodology and is an example for us to follow, yet the majority of Quraish and the surrounding tribes did not believe him despite the clear proof and miracles of the Quran presented to them. In fact most of them fought against him, insulted him, condemned him, labelled him a lunatic (Majnoon), liar (kaazib), magician/brainwasher (Saahir), poet (Shaair), fortuneteller (Kaahin), extremist (Saabi) and even a storyteller. They boycotted him, beat and tortured his companions, threw him out of his homeland and tried to defeat him militarily. This is a lesson that this backlash upon the believers as a result of our Dawah and the fleeing from the truth by stubborn disbelievers is part of the Sunnah of Allah and the Sunnah of the messenger Muhammad (saw) and indeed the sunnah of every prophet before Islam. Allah (swt) says about Nuh (as): He said: My Lord! I invited my people night and day, but my invitation did not increase them except to make them run away [from Islam] even more! And whenever I called them so that you can forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears and covered themselves with their clothes and became stubborn and arrogant in pride.
