Si vous êtes du côté de Varsovie, sortie en salle de VOL SPECIAL au KINO ELEKTOR. Le critique de cinéma, Małgorzata Sadowska, écrit à ce propos : In 2008, Fernand Melgar directed The Fortress, a film that takes place in a resort in the Swiss Alps, where 200 people await asylum in the country with Europe’s strictest immigration laws. As in that film Vol Special focuses on Swiss law and its officers, deciding the fate of individual people and families. This time, Fernand Melgar observes the lives of the residents and employees of the center for illegal immigrants in Framboise near Geneva. Under Swiss law, people who do not possess valid documents authorizing residence in the country (which visitors from the poorest corners parts of the world seem to think is a paradise on earth), may be detained for 24 months. They are then returned to their country of origin on scheduled or chartered flights and only a small percentage may remain in Switzerland. Melgar’s style is reminiscent of Raymond Depardon – a kind of careful observation, an attempt to describe a situation in which people become case files. Deprived of dignity, the refugees at the center spend months in limbo, awaiting what usually turns out to be a negative decision. Melgar looks at the system’s machinations without accusation, judgment or emotional provocation. This seemingly detached observation, however, belies the law’s systemic soullessness. The relatively quiet narrative flow is abruptly interrupted by a tragic accident, revealing dark side of these special flights. (ms) - kinoelektor.pl
