Sign now, and insist that the voice of powerful, responsible art be heard. Based on Aldous Huxleys meticulously researched The Devils of Loudon, a description of the veiled political events surrounding the character assassination of a priest in 17th century France, Ken Russells THE DEVILS is one of the great films in the English language, an urgent and incendiary warning across the centuries of the dangers of politico-religious alliance. It is also one of the most insightful films on the subject of faith and what so often parades itself as religion. In telling its story, it is a needfully brutal and often offensive film. But whether or not the film repels with its rebellious honesty and graphic execution, it must be available to educate, to illustrate the dangers of the course on which this country presently finds itself. The fact that Warner Bros. continues to suppress the film, refusing to let it be shown or released on Blu-ray in Russells preferred directors cut, puts every other film that dares to speak the truth at potential risk. Destroy this dangerous precedent by liberating THE DEVILS.
