Sikhlens is proud to announce its annual Sikh Arts and Film Festival to be held November 22th – 24th, 2013 at the prestigious Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University in Orange, California. The Sikh Arts and Film Festival serves as a central venue for artists to showcase and share Sikh heritage and culture through the mediums of film, art, and music. As an often-misidentified minority, this type of forum has proven to be essential for Sikhs to transcend cultural boundaries, generate awareness, and connect with the broader community. The three-day Festival will kick off with a red-carpet Opening Night celebration on Friday, November 22th at 7:45pm. Guests will be welcomed and introduced to the Festival with a series of short films and live entertainment. Guests will be able to enjoy Sikh artwork in a cultural setting, while mingling with featured artists and the local community. The evening will then continue into the night with a delectable dessert and dance reception. The schedule of events for Saturday and Sunday include special film clusters and programs focusing on igniting passion, creating discussion, and instilling inspiration. Among other things, there will be youth-focused films and books, panels of Sikh artists telling their stories and exhibiting their talents, a Sikhs Across the World film cluster, and a Concert showcase featuring Sikh Musicians, Performers and Artists coming together to share a stage.
