Sikkim govt prepares to create mass employment opportunities Gangtok, 16 December: The Sikkim government will soon create 2,000 jobs in various departments and Chief Minister Pawan Chamling has appealed the students and youths to prepare themselves to face competitive exams. He asked the teachers to provide career counselling to students besides regular classroom education. Chamling also announced to set-up an all girls’ college in the state soon. Addressing, the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bikmat Secondary School, West Sikkim on Monday. He also inaugurated the Jubilee Pillar and launched the Swachh Vidhyalaya Abhiyan under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the school premises. Talking about various pro-student programs and schemes launched by his government, the Chief Minister said that all school drop-outs would be provided skill development training in various sectors. He stressed that both learning and teaching should be prioritised in an integrated manner in all schools for holistic growth of the child’s body and mind. Talking about the tourism prospects of the state, Chamling assured a tourist site would soon be constructed in Namthang to help the youths of the state to get employment be self-dependent. HRD minister R B Subba announced various programmes like the statewide construction of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA) stadiums, development of Sikkim State Board of Education, skill development training for the youth and a teacher’s training programme. State Bank of India also contributed rupees 40 Lakhs under the Corporate Social Responsibility for the state. sns
