Silchar Tarun Club Durga Puja Update: The festive–fever gradually grips the Silchar town as few days are left for the biggest festival of the year– Durga Puja. The Tarun Club Durga Puja Committee is warming up to attract the pandal hoppers and devotees once again this year with its innovative way of pandal design, lighting and idol making. This time the pandal is being made with bamboo and wood. The bamboo made models of the Hindu God and Goddesses will be portrayed as the interior design of the pandal. A 65 feet high pandal was being constructed by a group of seventeen artists hailing from Nabadwip of West Bengal. The group led by Ganesh Das (36) is working persistently to offer ‘an eye–grabbing temple’. Mangal Kalash (holy pitcher) made of bamboo will be set up on a 12X12 dais on the premises. Moreover, a huge bamboo made replica of the face of Maa Durga will be placed in the entry of the puja pandal.
