Silverton. Skroot en kabel dief tweede keer die maand in hegtenis geneem SCRAP METAL DEALER ARRESTED IN SILVERTON FOR MORE THAN 2000 KG OF COPPER. The Special Projects Team, TMPD received information through an informant that council property has been sold at a scrap metal dealer in Silverton, De Boulevard Street. After proper observation the team noticed that the dealer was trading after hours. The team then visited the scrap metal dealer and found the following. Copper to the street value of R90,000 were found hidden in a container. The copper was then identified as council property by Tshwane Electricity Department on the scene. 11 Links 70mm copper, HT Feeder 185HT Feeder, HT 250mm Tail Longs ( Cable), MFX SB Lead sheet, 5 x Cable, ku Transformer Conductors. 6x water meter, 35mm suplex, 75mm Suplex Bus Bars, Transformer Conductor, Burned Copper mix, 16 x Bus Bars to the total of 1374.8kg 636 kg of other stripped copper cables were also found but was not identified as Council property. There were no receipts for this cable and the registrars not updated. All the copper was booked into the SAPS 13 store for safe keeping and court procedures. Total of copper 2010.80 kg were booked in as evidence Silverton SAPS. Members from Combined Private Investigations assisted on the scene. Two suspects arrested for possession of stolen goods and contravention of second hand Goods act. The same two suspects was arrested earlier this month on the 3rd of January 2015 for the same offence.
