Simple Poem (To: Stephanie Pimbley Jr) Wilt ye trow me smarter If I spoke as did poets of old? Tis not for naught that each eyne hath sight For thine body be silver and perona gold And to hold ye in mine limbs be mine grandest delight Cometh hither. Prithee, permit me- To say thou art of exceeding beauty I bid thee, tell me and tell me true If to serve ye with glances was their duty- Would mine eyne deserve their wage in full? Would you pay more attention- If I used paints from poetrys buckets If I spoke of the mesmerizing glow- Of the constellations in your eye sockets; The ease with which in them true beauty shows? Your confidence strong suit; Perfect fitting and full of splendor- Is made only of high quality wife material They say, you belong to the weak gender But does resting on the week-end make us inferior? Would you rather I metered my work And wrote you a sonnet or a sweet ballad? Or would you prefer free verse instead? For you, I could fill up my writing pad But my message contains feels that cant be said Swallowing each trace of pride in me- I will place my pen on paper and watch- As my every intention and thought bleeds Out a thousand reason to not touch- Your heart with mere words but with deeds So. Close your eyes and open your mind Fix your fingers in the spaces between mine Draw close. Place your head on my chest Listen to how my heart beats words divine; Complex is pleasant but sometimes, simple is best Keep Smiling
