Simplified Sacred Space For an individual Can be adapted for a group Tool and Supply List 1 – White (taper) altar candle and a Candle Snuffer 4 – Cardinal Point Candles, one each of Green, Yellow, red and Blue 1 - incense burner and incense Athame and/or Sword Temple and Altar Set up Bathe, shower or smudge yourself clean before entering the Temple. This is required for all people. Place each of the four Cardinal Point candles at their proper places within the Temple. Place the elemental representations on the altar, along with the main athame, wand and other tools. Place the sword point into the ground or in a sword stand in the very center of the circle. The Ritual Light the white altar candle. This altar candle should be used to light all the others, including the incense and balefire. Pick up the Altar Candle and walk to the North Bench, light the blue candle and recite: I call to the Gods and Goddesses of the North And welcome the element of Earth into this Temple. Walk to the East Cardinal Point, light the yellow candle and then recite: I call to the Gods and Goddesses of the East And welcome the element of Air into this Temple . .Walk to the South Cardinal Point, light the red candle, then recite: I call to the Gods and Goddesses of the South And welcome the element of Fire into this Temple Walk to the West Cardinal Point, light the blue candle and recite: I call to the Gods and Goddesses of the West And welcome the element of Water into this Temple . Return the altar candle to the Altar, stand before it and light the incense. Raise your hands to the skies and recite: I bid welcome to the Gods and Goddesses Of the four corners of the world I invite you to join me, protect me, Guide and guard me in this rite Which I hold in your honor and for your glory. Take the sword or Athame and raise it straight up to the skies and recite: As my prayers and praise rise up to you On the smoke of my incense and fires May your blessings and commandments descend Upon the steel of this blade. May I receive your words. Drive the sword gently into the ground in the center of the circle, being very careful not to stab your foot. If using an Athame, secure it within the belt of your robe. You are now ready to perform any spell or ritual that you have chosen to do. To Close the Circle Snuff out the candle at the West and recite: I thank the great Gods and Goddesses of Water. I ask that you join me in future Circles. May your names live forever in the hearts of men. Snuff out the candle at the South and recite: I thank the great Gods and Goddesses of Fire. I ask that you join me in future Circles. May your names live forever in the hearts of men. Snuff out the candle at the East and recite: I thank the great Gods and Goddesses of Air. I ask that you join me in future Circles. May your names live forever in the hearts of men. Snuff out the candle at the North and recite: I thank the great Gods and Goddesses of Earth. I ask that you join me in future Circles. May your names live forever in the hearts of men. Stand in front of the altar, snuff out the altar candle and recite: I release this circle of power and might May all spirits go or stay as they please As I have said, so let it be.
