Since 2000, more than 3/4 of our GDP gain has gone to the group - TopicsExpress

Since 2000, more than 3/4 of our GDP gain has gone to the group earning between $100,000 to $400,000, a group that in general goes to good college and is employed in a professional environment. Now we are having even more evidences from international economists that much of the global inequality is caused by the rise of such professional class in the third world countries. And yet as this knowledge economy is becoming more and more institutionalized, teacher as a profession is under siege. I was told last week that Goldman just increased its pay to its newbies, the analyst class, raising it to 87k from 70k, pre-bonus of course. Where is the incentive for our best and brightest to go into public teaching at a time when they are needed the most.
