Since I am on a roll today... To my friends participating in the #icebucketchallenge in drought stricken areas: - May I suggest that you dump a bucket of something other than water on yourselves? Some confetti, or budweiser? - If you MUST dump water, I suggest that you stand in your garden so that the plants benefit from your challenge. - If you dont have a garden (thats sad) then do it with pool water - I promise not to shame you for omitting ice. - Bill Gates had it right - On the dock of his compound using Lake Water (I presume) Heres the last thoughts coming from the Downer part of me... Water is a taken for granted by so many in the United States. It is, what many believe, going to be the one resource that will be at the center of crisis in the near future. It is the one resource that could result in wars and uprising in the future. Water is finite. We cannot magically make more water. Nobody OWNS water (though there are some who are trying to). I applaud the money being raised for a worthy cause. I do not applaud the way that its being done. You can scour the internet to find stats and clever quotes to defend the tens of thousands of gallons of water being wasted as being good for the charity but those things wont help bring back the water.
