Since September 2012 I have raised issues with the S79 SBS corridor. Specifically this area on Richmond Ave between Shirley Ave & Hylan Blvd. The S79 continues to not use the bus lane in this area. It is NOT the bus drivers fault. The design of this area is at fault. The S79 makes a left on to Hylan Blvd and there are no S79 bus stops between Shirley Ave & Hylan Blvd. It is safer & more efficient for the S79 drivers to continue in the left lane. We need the MTA & NYC DOT to recognize and correct this flaw. The travel lanes need to be restored to safer widths. The new Super Express X21 will be servicing this area in September. The increased traffic it will bring to the area will create even more hazards if this issue is not addressed. Councilman Vinny Ignizio Assemblyman Joe Borelli James Oddo Andrew J.
