Since my children do not have FB accounts, I promised I would share their letter on my page and others I have access to. When I read aloud to my family about the disaster in the Philippines, my children sprang to action. I will support this relief effort with all I have because I LOVE where it comes from. We have breaking news that has brought tears to our eyes. In many areas of the Philippines people have been killed and hurt by a great typhoon. This typhoon was formed on November 3, 2013, however, it first hit the Philippines on November 7, 2013. It’s still currently active. The highest winds are 10-minute sustained 230 km/h (145 mph) and a 1-minute sustained 315 km/h (195 mph). Many people have suffered and others died. Reporters say thousands have died. Around four million people were affected by the typhoon. Many other people are helping out so why don’t we? Clothes, blankets, canned goods and water are great donations. After such a horrible disaster in can be impossible to find clean water so the people are drinking bad, dirty water, which can lead to death. Cash donations and things mentioned earlier would be greatly appreciated. We plan to team up with the Red Cross. We also plan to set up boxes for donations at the commissary, PX and library this week. We will have bake sales! We donated our $22.61 that we saved for art supplies.
