Since my recent post on Natural Solutions Magazine, many people - TopicsExpress

Since my recent post on Natural Solutions Magazine, many people have been asking about my use of Rye Flour to wash my hair. The recipe is very simple, and inexpensive. I am very pleased with the results. I no longer have any dandruff (even in winter), my scalp is not nearly as oily, my hair has gotten stronger, and it is much shinier. Hair care is not one-size fits all though, so what works for your best friend isnt guaranteed to work for you. I found what works for ME, and if you keep trying, so can you. I make my shampoo every time I need it. It does not keep at room temperature, but I have made it the night before and it held up fine in the fridge. I have not experimented any further with the shelf life because it only takes a minute to make, which is not an inconvenience. So, heres how I make my Shampoo: I use a 2oz. bottle, typical travel size. I fill the bottle half way with warm water. Then I add one tablespoon of Organic Rye Flour. (see pic for brand) Shake the bottle a bit to mix it up, then fill the rest of the way with water. Yes, thats it. No complicated recipe, no grueling steps to follow. Some people have also asked me how to use this. I will have to warn that if you use store bought shampoo this will be a little awkward at first. This is mostly water, remember, so it goes on very quickly and it may feel as though youre doing something wrong, but youre not. I usually just tilt my head back a bit and then pour it onto my hair, in the shape of a headband. After that, you just massage your scalp like you normally would with any regular shampoo. The only thing I mildly dislike about this method is that little bits of flour get left behind after you rinse. There seems to be no way around it, because you could rinse your head with a fire hose and that stuff would still be there…but dont panic. Once your hair dries, it is easily brushed out, or you can give it a little help by fluffing your hair a bit with your fingers. All-in-all, this is the best shampoo I have ever used. I have tried countless Sulfate-Free commercial brands, and have undergone way too many All-Natural experiments, that either didnt work, or severely damaged my hair (baking soda!). This worked, and I couldnt be happier! I hope this recipe works for you, but hey, if not, you could always go make some bread!
