Since nothing of interest is recorded here, lets go down abit in memory lane and compare where we are now since then. The history of the development in Upper Mendi is one of a rapid change from 1987 till now. Im sure other readers from other regions reading this would bear with me, my sincere apologies. Prior to 1987 there was a rumor that a high school should be established somewhere in the Mendi area. That idea was not brought out with the public at large so some of us never knew anything. We in Upper Mendi area surrounding the swamp were poor and our cash flow was low. We had a steady flow of grade 6 students selected to continue to Secondary High Schools within the province as Mogol wasnt there yet. So since the competition was high that time, a good majority of our students were selected for further training in the tertiary institutions, a rare feat achieved by our students. Then in 1986, our while we were doing Grade 10, there were two of our own men teaching us there in Mendi High School, namely: Mr Stanley Mokom and Mr Simon Yangen (aka SKY). A english teacher Mr Sutherland Yore (aka SKY) told us off-handedly that students from Upper Mendi need not worry that we will leave Mendi high and the teachers as we all will be at Mogol in 1987. How true it was as Mogl was established in 1987 and Mr S Yore was the first Headmaster. Now we will start our trip down memory lane from here. While the people of Upper Mendi were not advanced that time, we have to take time now to thank some great men who sacrificed and toiled each single day for the creation of Mogol High and later Secondary and contributed unconditionally from their own pockets. One of those was the late Mathew Nonge from Ekari Village, from the Sipaka clan. He told the people to prepare bush material for building the classrooms and dormitories and a mess hall. After they were erected and ready then he went to the PEB and asked them to visit Mogol and see for themselves if he can get the school which was floated around like a hot potato. Then there was another man who played his part in the shadows. He is Mr Yaungtine Koromba MBE the then premier of SHP who gave the final nod for Mogol to be as it is now. Then other leaders from Karel like the late Sipendi and others who Iam sure deserve to be in the place of history of Mogol. Late Mathew Nonge is the undisputed Founder and Father of Mogol Secondary school. then we have Father Coleman our local priest and Mr Geroge Bopi who was a principal who is mutually attached to Mogol. So calculate the years from 1987 to 2014 and you will see how far we have come. Yes, we have come in leaps and bounds, we really owe it to our leaders and the Mogol secondary School. We must look after our golden egg: Mogol Sec School,it is our life! Thankyou. ( these are from my point of view)
