Since past few years,I have been observing that writing has become more of a fashion and less of a responsibility.Somewhere the quality of books have dropped down and this is the reason why publication houses(except a few) have started dominating the industry. To the people who are really serious about taking it as a passion,I will say that paying and getting published is just like you want to be launched as a hero in a movie and you are ready to be the producer. It may even click but the joy of passing an exam after hardwork and getting through one by paying is pretty different.Always remember that a publication house is known because of your name, because writers are intellectuals while any odd person having few lacs of rupees can be your publisher, without holding any sort of knowledge about writing.Instead of writing aimlessly and participating in contests blindly seek help from your senior writers.Everyday you hear about a new house emerging from nowhere who keep boasting about their work but fact is very different from those facebook status that they update on their pages.Your seniors can guide you very well as to how you should begin, where you need to improvise and which areas you need to improve so that your script is ready to be served. You will find many people who may misguide you but then you need to have patience and determination.Shortcuts are easy but longest route yields respect. It looks glamourous to see people getting interviewed in newspapers, radio stations and television but instead of looking at their success,go through their journey of struggle and then you will realize how tough it is to reach there and then to maintain it.Lastly, you are not doing a social service,so charge for your work, demand for a handsome royalty and sign your contract only after seeking advice from legal experts on a stamp paper.I will end up with an example there was always a difference between Sachin Tendulkar and Shahid Afridi,no matter how fast Afridi scored a fifty or a hundred,he stands nowhere near to Sachin.....so dont be an Afridi in this field,be consistent, sincere and determined like Tendulkar.Write one good book that stays in heart instead of multiple books that stays in stores. So that is my opinion and advice to upcoming writers, there may be a difference of opinion too but that is the way I think it should turn you into a good human and a better writer.
