Since the day our Prime Minister vehemently declared his campaign - TopicsExpress

Since the day our Prime Minister vehemently declared his campaign to clean up the Ganges, I have been rather curious about how the administration is going to handle this behemoth of a task. The recent findings of dead bodies near Pariyar hardly came as a shock to me. Having spent my childhood in Uttar Pradesh, I have seen the beauty of Ganga (and its dolphins) and I have seen the filth (the cremation grounds, the open toilet...its a long list). Its interesting to note that what people think of as faith, is what is primarily causing the filth. And thats the case everywhere - outside temples, in rivers...I dont believe in God or religion and I dont mock those who do. But for once, I want to. Here is an article I came across some time back regarding dumping of corpses in Ganga. It is graphic. So dont bother looking at it if you cant stomach the sight of bloated, rotting corpses. I think its important because sometimes it takes more than rhetoric to drive home a point.
