Since the passing of my precious Barley 5 days ago, I have not - TopicsExpress

Since the passing of my precious Barley 5 days ago, I have not been on Facebook hardly at all. I am truly overwhelmed with how tremendously kind, loving, generous, thoughtful and caring every one of you are. I dont possess the words to express the immense gratitude that I feel. I am so proud of Barley and grateful that I had the honor of being his Mama. I really dont think there are words that could define the appreciation that I feel for all of your love and support for both Barley and myself. I would like to let everyone know that with your help, as of now all of Barleys medical expenses have been covered. The remaining funds and any additional donations received will be allocated in Barley Murrays honor to other possums in need. I stand firm that I am not a rehabber but rather a facilitator and my role will continue. That being said, I am setting up a Barley Foundation. The purpose of this foundation is to have funds available to make it possible for our little guys to get the true top notch medical care they deserve and to help with the financial burden which could be the deciding factor of life or death. I understand that Barley was only with us for 4 additional days but I am deeply indebted to all of you for helping to make those last amazing days possible for him and I. It is extremely apparent to me that perceptions are changing about opossums and the rapidly growing appreciation and love for them is taking on a life of its own. It would be an injustice to step away now. After some time passes and Ive given my heart a chance to mend a little, Basil and I will pick up the pieces and continue to do Barleys great work the best that we can. So, I will leave the ICare fundraiser open and leave Barleys PayPal account the way that it is, so if anyone would still like to contribute to possum care please feel free to keep using the I Care fundraiser that Suzy set up for Barley or you can still use his PayPal directly (leamurray951@gmail) I have been thinking long and hard about what I am about to offer and if I wasnt 100% sure that its what I think Barley would have wanted, then I wouldnt be doing it. After the service on Saturday, Honor Thy Pet will be caring for Barley. I have decided that he will be cremated. I will be ordering some keepsakes that will contain some of his ashes so that I will be able to continue to have him with me at all times. I am going to give Honor Thy Pet permission to let members of his extended family order a keepsake that will contain some of his ashes if any of you so choose to.
