Since today is the National Observance of my Birthday (and, well, Martin Luther King, Jr.s), I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of you, near and far, who took the time to wish me a Happy Birthday last week. I appreciate you all taking the 8 seconds (give or take a few) to think of me! I had a good day: I slept in, FaceTimed with my nephews, and ate dinner with my family. The day before, I attended the funeral of Vee Parisi, a wonderful woman I had the opportunity to know while growing up and working at the St. Anthonys Italian Festival. She lived for 95 years and treated me with love and respect as a member of her own family. I hadnt seen her for a while, but her kindness and love towards me will not soon be forgotten. Turning 30 was bittersweet...Im happy to grow older, but Im painfully aware of the fact that I have not missed my opportunity to make any 30 under 30 lists. Ah...nuts! Heres hoping for a 40 under 40...
