Since when did a Personal Problem become a National Problem? I - TopicsExpress

Since when did a Personal Problem become a National Problem? I have been in shock with the recent developments in my country with regards to the ICC. My take on the ICC is nothing to do with party lines but objective and logic analysis of what is happening in the country and the continent. First of all, of the eight African cases in the ICC courts, 5 of them are as the countries invited the court to be the one to take charge of delievering justice since they didnt trust their judicial system to tackle the cases. But I wont delve into the other countries rather look at it from my own country. I would first of all like to blame the media for misleading Kenyans and playing partisan in this case and those that are not being partisan are being coward not to talk about it. Immediately there was need to have prosecution of the aledged mastermind of the Post Election Violence, President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga had urged the National Assembly to pass the Local Tribunal Legislation that allowed for a judicial mechanism to investigate and then prosecute the alleged perpetrators. In that time, the National Assembly was against it and the two key figures of the new movement, Lets not be Vague, Lets go to the Hague championed the cause of sending the cases to the Hague. The two leaders, now President and his Deputy did not think that they would be arraigned and charges placed on their heads. (I believe there are people who should also be arraigned in that court). Now that they knew they were heading there, they stated that it is their personal responsibility and that they will clear their names and ensure that they cooperate with the ICC. But of late, I am hearing someone who has a personal problem make it a national problem. Mr. President, ICC is not a national problem and you know it. My request is, stop making it a national problem and face it. You knew that you had the baggage when you got to office and you said you will be able to manage both the trial and your duties.
