Since yall probably got the gist by now, I just got back from Spain last night as there was, after everything Ive been through, no question that I really needed to get away for a bit. For obvious reasons, I rarely will put that shit out there before go away somewhere and will usually wait until I get home. And since everybody keeps asking did you have fun?, please know that this was not, and was never intended to be, a fun trip. Thats not to say I didnt enjoy Barcelona immensely, its a wonderfully vibrant, lively, friendly, and culturally rich city that Ive become a bit smitten with and I cant wait to go back. Also, with it sitting right on the Mediterranean Sea, having beautiful city beaches with plenty of places for a person with a lot on their mind to just sit by themselves, to think, ponder, reflect, cry alone, and do some soul searching in complete peace and solitude, well, that didnt hurt either. I chose to go to Barcelona to meet up with some people whom Kathleen and I have always considered very dear and cherished friends, friends that we both love(d) very much, that we always saw a lot of ourselves in them and their relationship (what Brian Burnette would call that Johnny and June kind o thing), and who have not only been frequent apartment guests and playing musicians at The Shore Road Tavern, but also called it one of their favorite places on the road, Liz Sloan and Jared McGovern. They, as the Urban Pioneers, were touring the EU with another great friend on upright bass Guido Grease Rag (of Cutthroat Shamrock and Joseph Huber) and it seemed to be, and certainly proved to be, JUST the folks I needed around me for some healing time. Thank you for being the friends that you are, and thank you for being there for me guys, I have nothing but deep respect and endless love for you all. Met a lot of really great folks along the way too: Cindylou Douglas (Guidos amazing gal) who also flew in to join them on tour for a bit, thanks for the great talks and your valued input on some life perspectives Cin, much love and respect chica, til next time, Mateusz Pleśniak and Niko Somethingski (aka The Freeborn Brothers from Poland) who stayed with us at our hotel all week, loved having you guys around and cant wait to get you Stateside. And a big heads up Timothy Scrimmington Boucher VIII & Might Junior, I have them pegged as the European Yankee Cockfight, your sound and personalities would be PERFECT together and Im thinking a nice long run together in the States is in both your futures, Th Booty Hunters from Barcelona ( Daniel Hunter, Hermes Gadella, Marc Santó, Javier Bañon Gil, and Jordi Olle Carpintero) who not only absolutely kickass live but I also cannot wait to get to the States. Ive already told Mike Sinapi theyd be PERFECT support for The Goddamn Gallows 2015 EU tour as they seek to corrupt and ruin the everyday lives Europeans as well (Mike, Uriah, Avery, Courtney, Joe, and Jayke) Also to Zoe Fálagan to whom I totally dropped the ball on delivering the Buzzard Wagon schwag I carted halfway around the globe for, send me your shipping address privately amiga and I will get that shipped to you ASAP, And finally, officially meeting and hanging out with Aurora de Cardenas III, who is by far, and without a doubt, the most independent, free spirited, life loving woman I have ever met, cheers to you darling, pleasure to have finally met and hung out.
