Singh in Sing Sing. Chidu Rajghatta traces the rise and fall of Sant Singh Chatwal, conman and crook, new York hotelier and owner of the Bombay Palace restaurant chain, who took three Indian banks for a ride that cost them over Rs.200 crores. They had a look out notice for him, yet he came to India with the Bill Chinton entourage and the banks just watched as the Vajpayee government feted him. He turned up in Barack Obamas entourage and here he is seen with a few of his peers- the Hinduja brothers - with Obama. The banks just watched as he was feted by the Manmohan Singh government. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, despite misgivings from the Home Ministry, personally ensured that Chatwal was awarded the Padma Bhushan. Now it seems that Chatwal will soon join another Manmohan Singh favorite, Rajat Gupta, in the Sing Sing correctional facility in upstate New York. Chatwal has now pleaded guilty to the charge of making illegal straw donations to Democratic Party politicians and can be sentenced to upto five years in prison. economictimes.indiatimes/news/politics-and-nation/journey-of-sant-singh-chatwal-another-indian-american-caught-on-the-wrong-side-of-the-us-law/articleshow/33970029.cms
