Sins and Doubtful Matters The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu - TopicsExpress

Sins and Doubtful Matters The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The Halaal is clear and the Haraam is clear, and between the two are doubtful matters about which not many people know. Whoever avoids the doubtful matters will have sought safety for his religion and honour (from deficiency and blame). Whoever involves himself in doubtful matters will fall into the forbidden (Haraam), like the shepherd who pastures his flock close to a sanctuary: it is feared that he will end up trespassing in it.” [Bukhari] Avoid the Haraam (forbidden) deeds and avoid the Makruh (disliked) deeds. Avoid those deeds whose validity in Islam is questionable. Avoid the major sins and avoid the minor sins, for minor sins can pile up until they are enough to kindle a huge fire and destroy you. Bilaal ibn Saad said: “Do not look at the smallness of the sin, but consider Whom you have disobeyed.” Bishr al-Haafi said: “If people were to truly contemplate the greatness (adhamah) of Allah they would not disobey Him.” Al-Fudayl ibn Iyaad said: “The smaller the sin is in your eyes, the greater it is with Allah, and the greater it is in your eyes, the smaller it becomes with Allah.”
