Sitting at a soccer scrimmage for our youngest tonight, I overheard a young father speaking angrily to his teenage son on the phone. I wasnt trying to eavesdrop, the man was speaking very loudly and stood almost right beside me. It was obvious the son had disobeyed something the dad had told him to do. Yet the tone of voice and the language the father used was very disturbing. F bombs, and a wide variety of other cursing and degrading comments one after another. I have teenagers, and like to think I understand how furious they can make us. But hearing this man talk to his own son that way hurt my heart.
