Sitting on the back porch of my Moms Hill Country house having coffee this morning, I was privy to a conversation between a Mother Doe and her fawn. It made me reflect upon how I will spend my retirement as well as the wild bicycle ride my brother Mark Witcher is on and why he lives his life so often dancing on the razors edge. The two deer had scampered out of the woods and crossed the road and bolted into my moms well manicured , lush, oak covered back yard. Fawn: Momma, how come we cross that dangerous road and come where the people are to eat instead of staying in the woods where its safe? Arent people dangerous? Doe: True baby, it is safe in the woods but the grass is dry and brown and the best acorns have all been picked over by the other deer. Here, the grass is thick and green and moist and the acorns are sweet and plentiful cause only a few dare to cross the road to partake. Always remember child in life anything worth having is worth taking a risk for. Sometimes, you just gotta kick up your hooves and say what the hell, go for it. Who says theyre dumb animals?
