Situational Analysis for Health – Cataingan Year 2008-2012 The Municipality of Cataingan has a projected population of 53, 362 for the year 2008, following DOH mandates and programs, 3% of TP is our target for AP, 3.5% for PP, 2.7% for CPR. It has been noted thru the performances of 12 RHM’s that every effort had been done but the target is still far behind from the accomplishment. During PIR, the following reasons for this gaps are: 1. Transient 2. too high projected population compared to actual population 3. For AP: Unwanted pregnancy Denial at the 1st trimester Transient The total livebirths during this year is 1,012, we had an FIC of 1,233 w/c is 83.65%, the CPR is 3,132 at 43.95%, CDR is 137 w/c is 2.78%, we had no data for FBD and household with access to safe water. For the year 2009 our projected population rises to TP: 56, 181 with a little increase in our total live births w/c is 1,069, FIC of 1,201(79.16%). Inspite of the increasing number CPR (3,284) the percentage goes down due to high projected population (40.31%). The total deliveries attended by skilled health personnel and trained hilot’s arises to 1,071 and 118 of this deliveries was handled by HILOT. In addition to environmental status of the municipality, we had total household of 10, 032, only 4,212(41.98%) with sanitary toilets and 58.02% doesn’t have sanitary toilets. Household with access to safe water is 6,807 ( 67.85% ) and 32.15% has no access to safe water. In the year 2010, we had a tremendously high projected population of TP: 57,294. Live births of 1,167, out of this no., only 33 delivered at the facility, and with high regard to the increasing deliveries handled by HILOT which is 699. The CPR was 3,156 ( 39.98% ) and a very declining trend in our FIC w/c is only 829 ( 58.08% ). We come to an agreement to use an actual population but to no avail because it wasn’t approved by the PHO. The report regarding the sanitation program also indicates no improvement. We had a total household of 10, 231 and only 3,320 ( 32.45% ) household has sanitary toilets and 4,553 ( 44.5% ) households has an access to safe water. As a poor result during our annual Program Implementation review, it comes to a realization to lower the projected population. The total population of 2011 noticeably goes down to 53, 727. The DOH benchmark for FIC is 95%, CPR- 65%, and still with the decreasing projected population, our FIC is 873 which is 60.16% and CPR is 2,351 ( 30.17% ). The total live birth is 1,039 and 332( 31.8% ) was delivered at the facility, 620 was handled by HILOT. The household with sanitary toilets goes up to 3,382 (35.25% ) and the households with access to safe water is 6,012 ( 62.68% ). Last year 2012, using a little higher projected population of 54, 413, the total facility based deliveries marked high due to different interventions and the existing Municipal Ordinance re: prohibiting hilot to handle home deliveries in the municipality and the provision of SAGIP BUNTIS program to all mothers who will deliver in the facility. FBD rises to 737 ( 69.72% ) for a total of 1,057 deliveries. Although there are cases identified as home deliveries but actions taken accordingly by the HP. FIC is still within the ratio from the previous years, 844 (57.4% ), with high regards to cases of AGE, it shows the poor performance of sanitation program as household with sanitary toilets pull down to only 3,578 (33.4% ) and household with access to safe water is 5,756 (59.24% ). We had 36 barangays. Five coastal barangays and 11 GIDA barangays. As of the present status of cataingan birthing clinic, we have 7 facility and 5 is already fubctional and the 2 facility is ready for turn-over. We had eight(8) untrained RHM for BEmOnc and one(1) PHN. The Municipality is considered now as one of high FBD.
